Jude Bellingham has reportedly agreed to a new five-year contract with Real Madrid. The England midfielder is set to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until at least 2031, strengthening his long-term commitment to the Spanish giants.
According to The Sun, Bellingham reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid on Friday, October 16, 2026. Spanish media had also reported progress in the negotiations. However, both sides still need to complete the formal steps before the club can confirm the deal.
The reported agreement marks another important step in Bellingham’s career. Since joining Madrid in 2023, he has become one of the team’s key players. His goals, energy, and ability to influence big matches have helped the club win major trophies.
The new deal would also end some of the uncertainty surrounding his future. At just 23, Bellingham could spend several more seasons competing at the highest level of European football.
Jude Bellingham Set to Extend His Real Madrid Stay
Real Madrid signed Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in 2023. The initial transfer fee reportedly reached £86 million, reflecting the club’s belief in his talent.
Before moving to Spain, Bellingham began his professional career at Birmingham City. He joined Dortmund in 2020 and spent three years developing in the Bundesliga.
His performances in Germany attracted interest from several major European clubs. Real Madrid eventually secured his signature and gave him a central role in their midfield.
Bellingham quickly adapted to Spanish football. His attacking runs, technical ability, and confidence helped him make an immediate impact.
The reported five-year extension would keep him in Madrid until at least 2031. It would also give the club greater stability as it plans for future seasons.
For Bellingham, staying in Spain offers the chance to continue competing for domestic and European honours. He has already enjoyed considerable success with Madrid, and the new agreement could extend that winning period.
However, the reported verbal agreement is not the same as a completed contract. Supporters must wait for an official announcement to confirm the final details.
Bellingham Helps Real Madrid Win Five Major Trophies
Bellingham has enjoyed a successful spell at Real Madrid since his arrival in 2023. He played an important role in the club’s trophy-winning campaign during his first season.
Madrid won both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in 2023/24. Bellingham’s attacking contributions helped the team maintain its challenge across major competitions.
His trophy collection grew further in 2024. Real Madrid also won the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Spanish Super Cup.
These achievements highlight the midfielder’s value to the squad. He can support the defence, move the ball through midfield, and arrive in the penalty area to create scoring opportunities.
Bellingham also brings energy and confidence to important matches. His ability to contribute in different areas makes him a valuable option for the coaching staff.
His main achievements with Real Madrid include:
-
La Liga: Winner during the 2023/24 season.
-
UEFA Champions League: Winner during the 2023/24 season.
-
UEFA Super Cup: Winner in 2024.
-
FIFA Intercontinental Cup: Winner in 2024.
-
Spanish Super Cup: Winner in 2024.
A new contract would allow Madrid to build around one of their established stars. It would also underline the club’s confidence in his ability to remain a key figure in the years ahead.
Jude Bellingham Continues to Shine for England
Bellingham’s influence extends beyond club football. He has also become an important player for the England national team.
One of his most memorable moments came at Euro 2024. England reached the final after a difficult tournament, with Bellingham contributing at key moments.
His late overhead kick against Slovakia in the round of 16 remains a standout moment. The goal came in the 95th minute and helped England draw level before they secured victory in extra time.
That performance showed his ability to respond under pressure. It also strengthened his reputation as a player who can change a match with one decisive action.
Bellingham continued to attract attention during the 2026 World Cup, according to the supplied report. He reportedly scored seven goals, including one against France in the third-place match.
His performances for England have added another dimension to his career. He now combines experience at the highest level with the expectations that come with playing for one of the world’s biggest clubs.
Maintaining that standard will remain important as he enters the next stage of his career.
Why Real Madrid Want to Keep Bellingham Long Term
Real Madrid have strong reasons to secure Bellingham’s future. The midfielder remains young, experienced, and capable of influencing major matches.
A long-term contract could help the club maintain stability in midfield. It would also reduce uncertainty around one of its most valuable players.
Bellingham offers several qualities that make him important to Madrid:
-
Versatility: He can contribute in midfield and attack.
-
Big-match impact: His performances have helped Madrid win major trophies.
-
International experience: He has played in major tournaments with England.
-
Long-term potential: At 23, he still has several years to develop.
-
Leadership: His experience at club and international level can benefit the squad.
Keeping him would support Madrid’s wider plans to remain competitive in Spain and Europe. The club can also continue building its team around players who have already delivered results.
For Bellingham, the reported extension suggests that he is happy to continue his development in Madrid rather than pursue a move elsewhere.
Will Jude Bellingham Ever Play in the Premier League?
Bellingham’s reported contract extension may disappoint some English football fans. Many would like to see the midfielder compete in the Premier League during his senior career.
He began his professional journey at Birmingham City before moving to Germany. Since then, he has played in the Bundesliga and La Liga, but he has not played Premier League football at senior level.
A contract until 2031 would make an immediate return to England less likely. However, it would not rule out a future move after his time in Madrid.
For now, his focus appears to remain on Real Madrid and their ambitions. The Spanish club offers him regular opportunities to compete for major honours and test himself against Europe’s strongest teams.
If the new agreement becomes official, Madrid supporters can look forward to seeing more of Bellingham in the famous white shirt.
Real Madrid Await Official Confirmation of Bellingham’s New Deal
Jude Bellingham has reportedly reached a verbal agreement on a five-year contract extension with Real Madrid. The proposed deal would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until at least 2031.
His success since joining the club in 2023 explains why Madrid want to secure his future. He has helped the team win five major trophies and has continued to make an impact for England.
The next step is to complete the formal process and confirm the agreement. Until Madrid make an official announcement, the reported terms remain unconfirmed.
If the deal goes through, it will represent a major boost for the Spanish giants. Bellingham would have more time to build his legacy at the club and pursue further success in European football.
